BLN Restaurants & Caterings specializes in the development, realization and management of gastronomic concepts. The enterprise is a full subsidiary of the successful Taiwanese-owned Namchow Group, which was founded in 1952 and has been listed on the Taiwanese Stock Exchange since 1974. Namchow’s main business segments are the production and trading of consumer goods with an array of products ranging from household detergents, to oil and fat products, frozen dough, ice cream and packaged foods – such as cookies and convenient products. The company is mainly operating in Taiwan, Thailand and China.

1997
Establishment of the company by opening the first Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai, an upscale Bavarian theme restaurant and microbrewery in the heart of the Former French Concession, in cooperation with the German Paulaner Brewery Group
2001
Opening of the second Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai outlet in the dynamic lifestyle neighborhood Xintiandi
2002
Expansion of the brand portfolio by launching the Japanese restaurant Ambrosia in a stunning, historic villa in the Former French Concession
2003
With the opening of Paulaner @ Binjiang, the third restaurant of the Paulaner brand opens its doors directly along the banks of the Huangpu River in Pudong
2004
In the beginning of the year the café, The Deli & Bakery, right next to Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai @ Fen Yang Road opened its doors.
In the same year the Ambrosia brand got redefined by the establishment of two different restaurant concepts under one roof. Henceforth, the Ambrosia Teppanyaki Restaurant has been located in the ground floor of the same remarkable villa which is also accommodating the Ambrosia Japanese & Yakiniku Restaurant on the second and third floor.
2006
The Binjiang One opens its doors – specializing in contemporary cuisine, the newly created restaurant concept has extended the brand portfolio of the hospitality enterprise
2010
Opening of Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai including its own banquet hall as well as Ambrosia Teppanyaki Restaurant at the same time, located in a renovated distillery at the former Shanghai World Expo area.
2011
After carefully and beautifully renovating “The Binjiang One”, BLN Restaurants & Caterings has opened in close cooperation with KÄFER, one of Germany’s most well known gastronomy companies, the KÄFER by The Binjiang One – a modern restaurant concept featuring inspiring contemporary European cuisine.
2012
The renowned Taiwanese restaurant chain Dian Shui Lou opened its first venue on the Chinese Mainland in Shanghai. The up-scale Chinese restaurant has won acclaim for its modern take on the classic foods of the Yangtze River Delta.
2013
Opening of Paulaner @ SNIEC at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC) that allows to cater directly and fast to exhibition booths, as well as to have a service on site.
2016
After nearly twenty successful years, the flagship restaurant Paulaner @ Fen Yang Road, as well as its two neighbor outlets Ambrosia and The Deli & Bakery needed to close its doors end of June.
2017
Ideally located next to Zhongshan Park in downtown Puxi, Paulaner @ Raffles City Changning has opened its doors in the mid of the year, and became BLN’s first choice for themed community events, such as Oktoberfest and Fasching, within the Paulaner group.
2018
Käfer by the Binjiang One was closed due to a relocation in 2018.
The second outlet of Dian Shui Lou opened its doors at Shanghai’s North Bund in October.
2020
After two years of preparation, Käfer by the Binjiang One reopened at the riverside of Shanghai’s North Bund. Also the fifth outlet of Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai – Paulaner @ North Bund – opened at the same location.
Dian Shui Lou @ North Bund was closed at the end of February.
